20.5.2021-Coimbra hosted a high-level conference on the rule of law in Europe, on 17th and 18th of May, at the São Francisco Convent. 

The Portuguese presidency of the Council of the European Union is organising a high-level conference on the rule of law in Europe on 17thand 18thof May in Coimbra, that brought together politicians, judges, academics and civil society. 

The conference, which took place at the SãoFrancisco Convent, had a "crucial" face-to-face component, with ministerial heads of EU member states, but also a remote component that was followed on streaming. 

The Portuguese presidency of the Council of the EU has set the rule of law as one of its priorities.
