27.09.2020 - The government has promised an increase of 2500 beds for students, but only 300 are actually available for this academic year.

A National Plan for Higher Education Accommodation (PNAES) was created last year to considerably increase the number of beds for students and thus allow them to move from their city to others to attend university.

With this plan, student accommodation capacity should increase to 12,000 beds over the next four years and double it by 2030.

The Público newspaper found that of the number of beds announced this week by the government not all are actually available. Some 4,500 beds belong to hostels and guesthouses, a further 2,800 cannot be used because they do not respect the rules imposed by the Directorate General of Health (DGS) in the face of the pandemic we face. Thus, of the 18,455 beds promised, there are approximately 210 beds left.

Although StudentVille has almost exhausted its accommodation capacity, it still has some rooms available for students who will be placed on 28th September.
