6.5.2021-The University of Coimbra (UC) is the best Portuguese institution and the 21st worldwide in the ranking that evaluates the fulfillment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The University of Coimbra (UC) is the most sustainable institution in Portugal and the 21st in the world, according to the third edition of The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2021, released today, being the institution with the best overall performance in Portugal in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

Since the strategies to combat food waste to the existence of the social meal, the availability of food baskets to university fraternities at affordable prices justify this ranking worldwide.

Also noteworthy are the UC's research projects and participation in consortia working to research solutions for the agri-food sector with a view to promoting a more competitive national food industry.

As Amílcar Falcão, Dean of the Univeristy of Coimbra, says "these results are a source of pride and encouragement, but the are also encouraging and challeging because there is much more ground to cover than has already been covered".
