Covid-19 cuts 3,000 beds in student residences – Availability falling
08.08.2020 – Recommendations by Portugal’s health organization cause a fall in 3,000 beds in student residences in Portugal. With the coming academic year at bay, the number of available rooms is falling rapidly.
In a year where the number of places in the Universities has risen to 51,408, the highest value in 7 years; Portugal’s national health organization’s (DGS) recommendations, due to Covid-19, have resulted in 3,000 beds being cut from public student residences, with even more cuts being noted in private residences.
StudentVille, boasting individual en-suite rooms, has already been accredited with the Clean & Safe certification and has not suffered any cuts in its number of rooms.
On the day when the application process to Portuguese universities begins, StudentVille has been very much sought after by national and international students, and already has low room availability.
