30.4.2020- University of Coimbra was the Portuguese higher education institution that achieved the best performance in 'The University Impact Rankings'.
In the second edition of Times Higher Education’s ‘University Impact Rankings', the University of Coimbra (UC) is the Portuguese institution that had the best global performance in the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDOs).
The highest score was achieved in the area of Health and Wellness, considering that the contribution of the UC to the National Health Service was decisive, namely in supporting government policy decisions in health management, the quality and quantity of training of health professionals and innovative initiatives such as the Ageing Coimbra or the M8 Alliance.
The University of Coimbra is one of the few institutions in the world that provides medical services to the entire academic community.
The University Impact Ranking intends to assess the overall success of universities in meeting Sustainable Development Goals. To elaborate this ranking, it is taken into consideration how research, teaching and management of institutions contribute to the achievement of the SDG goals, defined by the United Nations, being the only global instrument to evaluate these commitments.
